The design approaches sustainability not as the addition of ambitious performance metrics, but as a holistic mindset — from preserving embodied carbon and implementing a flexible timber frame structure to integrating low-tech ventilation solutions. The result is an inspiring environment with diverse spaces for learning and interaction, seamlessly combining pedagogical openness with ecological responsibility.

// The former Town Hall of Berlin-Marzahn, an administrative building of GDR modernism, is currently undergoing extensive renovation. KEBE + SCHOBERTH ARCHITEKTEN are responsible for nearly all project phases—from analysis to implementation—demonstrating how high energy standards can be combined with the requirements of heritage conservation.
