We are very pleased with this result, which recognises our continuous investment in research and development. Previously, SKZ had already certified a service life of well over 50 years for our RESITRIX® and HERTALAN® membranes. Now, with a projected lifespan of more than 70 years, we have reached another significant milestone for the material EPDM. Of course, proper installation by trained professionals is essential to achieve this performance. That’s why we train installers to become Certified Roofing Specialists through our CARLISLE® ACADEMY.

The construction transition calls for a new mindset when it comes to resource efficiency—durable and sustainable building materials are indispensable. A recent long-term study conducted by the Süddeutsches Kunststoff-Zentrum (SKZ) has confirmed the outstanding longevity of CARLISLE® CM Europe’s EPDM waterproofing systems RESITRIX® and HERTALAN®. The products are expected to last over 70 years—while maintaining high tensile strength.

As part of its ongoing research into the long-term performance of EPDM, the independent SKZ institute re-evaluated the EPDM waterproofing membranes RESITRIX® and HERTALAN® produced by CARLISLE® CM Europe. The result: both product systems are forecasted to have a service life exceeding 70 years, while retaining their mechanical integrity throughout the projected period.

Outstanding Sustainability

RESITRIX® and HERTALAN® EPDM membranes are installed as single-ply systems, which means up to 85% less material is required compared to multi-layered solutions.

This material reduction leads to lower costs and more efficient logistics, while significantly conserving natural resources.

In addition, both systems offer the following advantages:

Cold-applied installation (no open flame required)

Root-resistant in accordance with DIN EN 13948 (FLL certification in progress)

Suitable for all types of green roofs

Certified sustainability credentials:

RESITRIX®: DGNB-compliant, EPD- and Green Label Singapore-certified; rated by NIBE as particularly environmentally and ecologically-friendly

HERTALAN®: EPD-, DUBOKEUR- and Cradle to Cradle™-certified
