CARLISLE® Induction system
Experience the new dimension of mechanical fixing with the CARLISLE® induction fixing system and our HERTALAN® EASY COVER membranes.
This innovative system uses special magnetic coated plates to secure the HERTALAN® EPDM membranes and insulation to the roof construction without having to penetrate the roof membrane.
This innovative installation method means that the HERTALAN® EPDM membrane can deliver a circular approach to sustainability.
Transforming EPDM membrane installation
Installation Instructions
EFFICIENT INSTALLATION: The fixings are positioned precisely where they are actually needed reducing number of fixings and installation time.
In contrast to traditional methods involving seam fixing, field fixing with the induction process distributes the wind load evenly over the EPDM-membranes. This prevents any asymmetrical force impact on the fastening plates and seams.
The position of the fastening plate is defined based on the wind load calculations for the property and distributed in the roof system. As a result, despite mechanical fixing, larger membranes can be used and a clear reduction is achieved in the seam proportions and seam overlap compared to conventional systems fixed in place by mechanical means
What is Circular Sustainability?
Circular sustainability in construction is a methodology that puts a cradle-to-cradle approach to material selection at the heart of the specification process. This means selecting products that have reduced embedded carbon emissions, extended performance and the ability to be returned to the value chain at the end of their initial service life. It is a philosophy that is seeing the drive for greener construction come of age, and Carlisle is at the forefront of adopting those goals in the roofing sector.
Sustainability in action
Hertalan EPDM roofing system is a case in point. With a 70+ year service life expectancy, EPDM is already known as an environmentally beneficial roofing technology. The system enhances these baseline green credentials by enabling roofing contractors to install the EPDM membrane using an induction system, allowing the material to be stripped cleanly from the roof at the end of its service life for recycling or reuse.
