Project Overview

When the roof waterproofing of an industrial building needs to be replaced, overlaying with TPO is often a suitable solution. This approach provides a long-lasting waterproofing system that is also suitable for multifunctional roof use.

Many large industrial roofs were previously installed with PVC membranes, which are now reaching the end of their service life. Today, roofs are evaluated differently than they were around twenty years ago: requirements for thermal performance have increased, and roofs are increasingly used for multiple purposes, such as the installation of photovoltaic systems. As a result, new demands are also placed on the roof waterproofing system.

CARLISLE® offers a range of waterproofing systems to address these requirements. In many cases, it is possible to leave the existing roof covering in place, saving time and reducing disposal costs. Naturally, building physics calculations and, where additional insulation is applied, the necessary performance verifications must be carried out.

Clients are also increasingly opting for the white SURE-WELD® TPO membrane. With an SRI value of 99, it is among the highest-performing products available in the Dutch TPO market.

Industrial roofs must strike a balance between structural complexity and ease of installation. They are required to be lightweight, span large areas, and increasingly accommodate additional functions, such as supporting photovoltaic systems or green roofs. Through connections within the RESITRIX® network and the growing demand for white roof waterproofing solutions, he became involved in this project. Jacobs specialises in roof refurbishment and is observing increasing demand for the renovation of steel roofs with ageing PVC membranes.
